Fresh Produce

Greetings 2025 peoples,

Only just noticed I hadn't included the link to the YouTube vid for Oliver's Travels. So here it be…

New music from Duncan's Lunch has arrived! It's our Loud For Mother EP!

Hopefully everyone is getting out and about by now, though there are indications of fresh waves of new Covid variants spreading around, so keep staying safe, whichever way you see fit.

From the original recording sessions way back in the mid 90s, these tracks have had a long and winding journey to get here. Only recently, through overhaul and refurbishment of ancient analogue equipment, cheaper and more accessible tape baking (yes, that's a thing), audio digitisation and upgraded technical wizardry has it been possible to reproduce these songs to sufficient standard for release.

All (well - 99%) acoustic and largely played in a live setting (a few recent additions have been necessary), this CD represents the band in a softer,  more pastelly hue, perfect listening for warm summer's days. As well as 4 new original songs, it also contains our usual gig encore number by R.E.M.

Rather than go via the streaming route we thought we'd release right here first and cut out the middle people at least for now. So, stick a folk-rock finger in one ear, get over to our Music page and enjoy!

new (old) single!

Here it is people... it's Oliver's Travels, 2020 remix!

Penned in the very earliest days of Sophie and Andy's collaboration and appearing on the band's first EP release (see below), OT's basically asks the question 'who is the fool here?'. Revitalised during the band's Eternal Cafe recording sessions but perceived at the time as not quite ready for the album, that same recording has been remixed & remastered. Check it out on our Music page! Ta.

Album Release: Songs from the Eternal Cafe

After many years of on-and-off music making (mostly off!), Duncan's Lunch are finally releasing their only full length album to date: Songs from the Eternal Cafe. The album was actually recorded way back in 2008-09 and finished in 2010 but was never previously publicly released. Sorry for the slight delay! :-)

Sophie and Andy originally formed Duncan’s Lunch around 1992. Dave and Andy had met even earlier, playing together in local bands since the mid-1980s. This trio's first release was a four-song cassette EP, Tabernacle Sundae. I suspect you probably remember it...! Matt joined early 1994 to complete the line-up.

After a flurry of activity on the London gigging scene, a little press and a Radio Mercury session, sadly everyday life got in the way and the band ostensibly split for good, but got back together late 2000s specifically to record this album.

Another hiatus followed (jobs, kids, general decay of western civilisation), the band's most recent public performance coming in 2014.

So now this. We hope you like it. Please visit the Music page to listen and download. If you like the 'real thing', please visit the Store page to buy the CD. Thanks a lot for dropping by.
